the CD --Following an inspirational trip to the Holy Land in February 1996, poetry became a passion as I have poured out over 150 works in less than 2 years. Working as an International Tour Director, I was preparing for that trip when I composed a poem entitled "PEACE" while driving at 75-mph on I-25 near the Rocky Mountains. A man named Jeff Norman heard me recite the poem on a cruise ship in Alaska, called me aside and said simply, “This MUST go to song!” And so it did. Ted Perlman and Peggi Blu, Jeff’s in-laws, brought the poem to life. In February, 1997, the thrill of that “birth” was incredible. "Peace" changed my life. For one year I lovingly held it, searching for Colorado artists to transpose my words into songs. By February 1998, not having found the right local combinations, I asked Ted and Peggi for two more songs while I continued to compose. By June 1, 1998, I was led to Branson, MO, near my birthplace of Marshall, MO, where I found Eddie Wilson…what a gift! With Eddie and wife Robyn’s help, along with the timely meeting of Daniel Market and Jed Lance Stugart in my hometown of Greeley, CO, within 6 months we had compiled 15 more songs. A mixture of powerful emotions took place during that time, just as "Peace" was powerful. The CD is a compilation of musical styles ranging from Gospel to Country, from Rhythm & Blues to Folk. We experimented with World Music and Jazz idioms. Eddie Wilson MADE this happen…His never-ending insight, incredible IQ combined with critical wit, masterful teaching ability, and musical talents enhance the character of the CD. Eddie Wilson IS high energy. Gene Aitken, Director of Jazz Studies at the University of Northern Colorado, Greeley, CO, is the backbone of this compilation while attorney Horace A. Lowe of H. A. Lowe & Associates, Denver, CO, is the spiritual thread. Ted Perlman, with special Ted humor and wit, gave me years of experience and joined his wife, Peggi Blu, in putting heart and soul into "Peace" and two additional songs. Family ties are a strong part of their make-up, and I respect that. Daniel Market, in his free-spirit way, believed in me the day we met. Jed Lance is a God-send, composing in his tractor cab to finalize “Hope is Magic” and “My Mom, My Friend.” I am grateful for all of these new friends; each is a special blessing. |
